About Dr. Gillian Plummer-Molina

I was fortunate to realize from a very tender age that my calling was a career in medicine. I was particularly drawn to the field of dentistry from the impression that my own childhood dentist left on me. When my peers spoke about their dental visits with fear and anxiety, I was amazed to find out that my very own experiences were so much different.

It was then that I welcomed the challenge to change the “face” of dentistry to my patients. The other intrigue was that throughout my childhood I had never had a female dentist. I became fascinated at the prospect of not only “being beloved by my patients” but to be “one of a few”, and have since passionately pursued this goal.

Here at VED we strive to provide an awesome patient experience. We offer laser dentistry which is fast, precise, blood-free, suture -free, reliably anesthesia-free, and most importantly pain-free for the vast majority of procedures. Solea is the number one selling all-tissue laser in dentistry.

Radiation Free Diagnosis

For Oral Cancer Screening, we use Identafi, an oral mucosal Visual Enhancement System that enhances the visualization of oral mucosa abnormalities that may not be apparent or visible to the naked eye, such as oral cancer or pre-malignant dysplasia. The Identafi excites the tissue with multi-spectral lights for direct visualization of the resulting natural tissue fluorescence, reflectance and vasculature.

The IntraOral Camera – Digi Doc is the industry’s leading high definition camera that brings the smallest details into brilliant full screen focus which is used for patient educational. Our team is aware that patients want to be shown, not told what needs to be done.

Intraoral Camera – Cari Vu (trans illumination) uses a newer approach called near infrared (NIR) transillumination to detect occlusal and interproximal carious lesions in their earliest form. Additionally, the CariVu can identify cracks. NIR transillumination uses longer wavelengths, allowing for deeper penetration into the tooth. Oral health professionals can halt or reverse the caries disease process by detecting caries in its earliest form, thereby avoiding surgical intervention and preserving the natural dentition. New caries diagnostic technology aids in the support of minimally invasive dentistry by helping clinicians differentiate noncavitated areas from cavitated ones, and allows remineralization efforts to be employed.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry primarily focuses on the improvement dental aesthetics in color, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance. It generally refers to any dental work that improves the appearance of teeth, gums and/or bite.

Restorative Dentistry

Restorative dentistry focuses on methods of replacement of missing or damaged teeth. Fillings, crowns (“caps”), bridges and implants are common restorative options. The goal is to bring back your natural smile and prevent future oral health issues.

Dentures

A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available — complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

Implant Dentistry

A dental implant is a titanium post (like a tooth root) that is surgically positioned into the jawbone beneath the gum line that allows the replacement teeth or a bridge into that area.

Implants are also used to anchor dentures. The overdenture, which is removable, is secured to the implant through retentive attachments incorporated into the denture. This alleviates the worry of dentures moving around or out of the mouth.

Orthodontics with Clear Aligners (INVISALGN)

Invisalign aligners are practically invisible, feel smooth and comfortable, and can easily fit within your lifestyle. It is wonderful for an active and public lifestyle because it is removable. The teeth can be easily and thoroughly cleaned after meals.

Teeth that are not properly aligned can lead to periodontal disease because it is difficult to remove plaque causing the inflammation of the gums. Inflammation of the gums can lead to soft tissue damage, receding gums, the formation of pockets between teeth and gums, bone loss and eventually tooth loss.

Straight Teeth are Healthier Teeth!

Preventative Dentistry

Preventive dentistry is oral care that involves education, treatment and practice of maintaining your teeth and gums. Taking care of your teeth means more than brushing and flossing. For complete care, it’s important to visit a dentist every six months for a regular checkup and professional cleaning.

Oral health is connected to the health of your body as a whole. This is because the mouth is a breeding ground for harmful bacteria. Maintaining a clean mouth benefits your overall health.

Night/Mouth Guards
Guards are designed to alleviate the pain and damage caused by bruxing or clenching of the teeth. Severe tooth, jaw or facial muscle pains are common side effects of bruxing or clenching of the teeth. The guards are individualized made from the impressions of either the upper or lower teeth for each patient and is often worn during sleep.
